Ranjana Lipi Workshop in London

30 Members of Pasa Puchah Guthi UK (PPGUK) London and the students of SOAS University of London participated in the Ranjana Script Workshop jointly organised by PPGUK London and SOAS Newar Language Society (SNLS) at SOAS University of London.

The workshop started with a brief introduction of SNLS by Nepalbhasha tutor Ms Marilena Frisone. It was followed by an introduction to the workshop by PPGUK London’s General Secretary Mr Sandeep Shrestha. PPGUK London’s President Mr Sanyukta Shrestha gave a brief introduction of Ranjana script and its historical importance in South Asia and beyond.
In the workshop tutored by PPGUK London Culture Secretary Ms Pranisha Shakya, participants learned about the vowels and consonants of Ranjana script, and the way each of the letters are written in the distinctive calligraphic style. By the end of the workshop, participants were able to write their first names with some help by tutor Ms Shakya.

 

In the graceful presence of SNLS President Mr Keval Shah and Coordinator Ms Marie Thaut, PPGUK Founding Member Mr Arjun Pradhan and PPGUK Board of Trustees President Mr Ojesh Singh, the event concluded with handing over of certificate of participation to all 30 participants who ranged from four to fifty years of age.
